A walk after dark

A walk after dark

Wandering through the city at night

Looking for shelter at nearby café

Tired, hungry and penniless

She kept on with blind aggressiveness

Faithfully hold on to a thought of belonging

She relied on the kindness of strangers

Ruthless, humorless empty faces

Grinning at her in the darkness of unfamiliar places

Walking to the one she once loved

The one who left, who’s miles away

Drying rose clutched in her hand

As a guiding light showed her the way

Salty tears drying by the cold wind of the North

She kept on pushing her numb feet forth

Alas! To no avail was their love

At last she found a welcoming sign of a bright lit street

I love the vibe this poem gives, the state of mind it transends onto the reader. Great writing, hope to see more new works-Tilmylastbreath

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
