    AMIDST THE CIPHERS

    Seems I've found my way
    To melancholia's hollow depth
Please lead me to the horizon line
    Between exuberance and death.

Surly I am an uninvited guest
For whom would solicit such a list?
If I know not of my journey here
Life's compass will save me not from this.

My soul is shattered by tempests roar
The storm rages on, too loud to ignore
What a horrid and desolate place
Phantom screams from every wretched face.

Is there not a single ray of light
Twill penetrate my tomb of night?
I feel minute in the realm so vast
Wake me soon, be this a memory past.

Solice eludes me, replaced by fear
    Internally shaken, nadir looms near
A mere sliver of radiance is all that I need
I shall grasp the thread, my hope to feed.

Where is the fortitude once e're possessed
When summoned for yet another test?
    E're I plunge into nonexistence
My plea for freedom, you must bear witness.

This poem followed the death of my twin brother; how I miss him so!

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
