an empty masquerade

an empty masquerade

blank.
an empty heart.
an empty mind.
an empty...
what is life when everything you knew is gone?
when no regrets seems impossible?
when there aren't enough hours in the day to make life right, to seem okay?
what do you do when your life goes empty?
just hide your face and join the masquerade.
but don't get too comfortable
don't forget to let yourself breathe
don't let the mask become you
can you honestly face the world without it?
everyone can see you
you can see everything

but behind the mask
there is safety
you see only what is let through the small holes
cut out as eyes
people too quickly accept truth as they first see it
and often only parts of the truth
or lies
are revealed through the mask
can you see the world without it?
or have you been blinded
like a prisoner in a cave?
for if you're blind,
are you really any better off
than you were without the mask?
because what you see when you're blind
well.
that is simply nothing.
black.
and the blackness

is empty.♥

don't judge me. these words?
they're just a mask.
