    BEGGAR’S PERSPECTIVE

    Everyday at dawn I wake
Everyday I am by the roadside
On my four I move like a snail
    Everyday like many others
    Although we are few
Only a fraction of the population
    Meet daily on the sidewalk
Keenly watch each passerby but hardly
    Notice in turn

    We know everything about everybody
Yet nobody knows anything about us
    We hear all and listen
    Nobody listen or hear us
They are always in a hurry and
    Looking straight on
    Look not on their shoulders
But, when they do, there is someone
Like them or higher than they

    They go together or hail
Some time they scamper for dear life
Another thing, they respect is the rain and the sunshine
Few of them who cares or for sympathy sake
    Stops and drop a mite
Others a fragment from their mouth
Whenever you do, do it from the heart.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
