Bells

The Bell chimes
I listen closely
How many times?
Twelve, has struck midnight

I look at my date
I look at my dress
I look up to tell him I'm late
But words form on his lips, barely heard

He says, "I know,
I know who you are, I know your tale,
I know you'll be back though you must go,
And I hope you know, I'll be waiting."

I run down the steps
I looks down on myself
To see what's left
Of the beauty

But I find it gone,
Beauty no more
Sabby clothes on
I am no longer His Belle

But still I wait here
For his return
With hope so unclear
I barely know I hope at all

Til one day I hear the Bells
Hear them calling
wondering what it tells
To find him at my door

At my door with no glass shoe
Not holding it up, but smiling at me
Not telling how much time had passed
But telling he was there, waiting

He opened his mouth to speak
But I stopped him before he could
I put one hand on his cheek
And the other over his lips

I said, "I know,
I know who you are, I know your tale,
I know you came back, though I had to go,
And I know that you were waiting."

So he opened his arms
And he gave me a hug
And we laid there, his alms
Were that I was His Belle once more.
