Black Pearl

Black Pearl

Black Pearl cultured fair
hidden beneath the rocks

Beauty tainted by the sun
scorched, immune, bleeding slow
revealing emptiness and loss

What destiny and purpose came washing through
erasing pigment from your soul
eroded desire to see beyond
the darkness of your ocean floor

There you stay in secret
survivor of the cold
growing fairer
instead of bold

O Black Pearl the power you had!
To change your fate around her neck
To release her beauty
As well as your own

Now she sits mirrored image, mourning desire
flushed with innocence
as she reaches for her throat
her lips crimson frost, her eyes sunset void
peace she will not know

O Black Pearl, cry for her tonight
as she joins your ocean grave!
as two ghost you'll live in shadows
no one will sing your praise
Black Pearl, now another rock
on top of you lay

I enjoy the pace, rhythm of your writings. viewed from the side, a nice swell in the middle with attention on constant focus in the ending

Poetry is what gets lost in translation.
