Chemical Dependency

Chemical Dependency

i wear football pads and camouflage to sleep in,
sweet dreams, the stars are dancing tonight.
there 's no more nightmares, if you don't want them.
every-thing's alright, to me without the chemical dependency.

stalking all of these lost fantasies, and broken dreams,
i'm the king of breaking everything, you're the proof,
that everything is raging inside against the real me.
god damn this fuckin' chemical dependancy.

i only crave a night straight through of solid dreams,
i've given away all of these dreams, and the nightmarish,
false realities, if only to never see you again, tor up sheets,
soaking pillow cases, just another head case.

here i am again, sweating, just trying to sleep,
losing another war i should've never gone in alone,
methamphetamines, killing me, god damn you
chemical dependency.

This poem speaks loudly to me. I really relate to how you spoke of lost fantasies and broken dreams. The gift is that you are aware of your feelings and many people go through blindly in life unaware. Great poem.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
