Crossing the jungles

Crossing the jungles

Crossing the jungles of life

Oblivious of how much you have to strive

Your palm bears a sharp cutlass

Because your thoughts bear “mere tough grass”

Caught in a mob of shrubs

You trip and fall on your knees

Down to the root of a tall tree

When fighting the epiphytes

You bump into stumps

The mind expects freebies of honey

And what you get is free bees making you puny

You are with a map that has no keys

While pondering, it is snatched by some monkeys

Beyond the trees, the sun beams bright

Below the canopy is dim light

The bright end of this jungle

Is quite not the end of the struggle

Because it is just one of the many

I guess i'ld leave some for my progeny

For i only have to play my part

Before He says depart

Nice metaphors. Life is like a jungle at times and you expressed it well.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
