    Cry in the Dark

He stood and looked up at the heavens
night was cold his body was tired
worn down in body mind and spirit
cast his mind back to his wife
and his child the life he once had
friends all gone no hope in heart

Punched the air in anger and pain
why me i tried so hard to be
so long since he left his home
his work his joy his very life
left all gone never to return
why me he shouted at the heavens
lord if you love me where do i go

Now ill and frail not a hope or home
how could this be is this me
tears ran down his face like rain
he punched the ground and cursed
god please help me to see
he walked for a while then
fell to his knees lay on his side
then sleep came upon him at last

He felt the cold no longer
and the worry and the pain
as he woke a voice he heard
come with me and you will see
he stood and turned no pain no
anger did he feel his spirit lifted
all was warm and light around him
my son the voice said it is me
take my hand no pain no more
come to heaven and you will see
    just come with me

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
