Daddy don't leave

Daddy  don't leave, come hold my hand. Show me another way of loving a man. I need your guidance as well as your advice. I need you there to give me away the day I become a wife.

So you and mom couldn't get along...tell me what I did that was so wrong. I just wanted to be tucked in t night and have you tell me everything would be alright.

Hundreds of times & many a day I’d sit on my bed and cry and pray, “Please God send daddy back my way”. You have no idea, not even a clue the countless number of men I’ve been through, just trying to recreate some image of you.

I’ve tried imagining what it would’ve been like if you could've been the one who taught me how to ride my bike. How much different my life could’ve been if you hadn't left me way back when.

I really needed you, I could’ve been your whole world. I  know I was supposed to be “Daddy’s little girl”. The pain and hurt your absence caused has left me full of unfixable flaws. The idea of desertion is a hard one to bare. But I just walk around as if I do not care.

I’ve never been looked at by a man without lust. This has made it impossible for me to trust. Men in my life have come and gone. Leaving me feeling done so wrong. Maybe it’s my fault, because I didn't understand that I needed a father instead of a man.

They say you cant miss something you never had, but not a day goes by that I don't miss my dad. Even though I’m no longer a youth, I find myself still needing you. Still waiting for you to hold my hand and say look both ways before you cross the street. But who knows, maybe I will find what I’m looking for in the next guy I meet.
