    Poem Commentary

I was trying to understand what was happening with this guy that I was dateing. He did not come home, Thank God that relationship is over. Love was not there. but I became a better writer and learned what love is not.

    Darkness

Last night I felt like the darkness

    Was all around me

Closing in on me, feels like the room

Is getting smaller, while my bed

    Is getting bigger

    It’s been a long time

Since I slept alone. If I turn

Right or left my lover was not there

I listened for his heavy breathing

And the mumbling in his sleep

I stretched my arms and legs

    As wide as I could

But, I could not touch his skin

I could not feel the hairs on his face

I realized how dark our room can get

I never noticed this when he was here

But now that he is gone

    The darkness is heavier

And I’m so cold, when will this night end

    My tears keep falling

Even when I sleep my eyes are Swollen

In my voice love ones can hear pain

    Darkness

    Bring back my SunShine

    Take away the rain

    Darkness

    Bring back my SunShine

    So I can live again.

    Thank you so much.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
