    Day of the Sulking Dead

    Look...

    I'm no heartless asshole
I'm hardly immune to the sting of time wasted
or the papercut indignities of unguarded affection
nor am I some bleeding heart
just looking for a reason to toss my weeping soul
    out the fucking window

    But...

too much grieving is an insult to
    my living time
    spend too much of it
    pining graveside
I'll get to see them push my stone
    into the dark mass
    of freshly turned earth

    And...

    opportunity sometimes knocks repeatedly;
if I'm not home to hear it beating down my door
    while I pen innumerable lines
    to opportunity missed or mislaid
the time between then and now
    will be as useless
    as the time before

    So...

I won't waste my breath on lovesong sentiment
won't burn old letters i should have thrown away
    won't tell the new one
    about the old one
with the old ghost still roaming through my house
    no need to exorcise
    what I can ignore
no need for a witch hand conversation
    with the joyful deceased

    I'll take the lonely night
    over sleeping with a corpse
take the black burden of today
over the dead weight of yesterday
and bear it all with a smile

what else should the living do?

haha. That's how I feel. And for that people find me a bit insensative in relationships. I loved it. Nice diction.

An amazing collection of perfect words leading to the punch-line with a quick toe-tapping downbeat.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
