    Desire Deceives

    Shivering from freezing winter winds,
    I climb into the warmth of his pickup,
    and intertwine with his charm and grace.

    His kisses melted any lingering doubts:
    his hugs make me feel secure and needed;
    he whispers love, faith and trust.

    Something is wrong, I feel it hiding there.
    Guarded meetings, short and sweet, always rushing,
    can't be late, he has a roommate, he has a wife. NO!

    My mind says let him go, heart disagrees,
    mind says it is wrong, he can never be mine,
    heart won't listen, it wants him still, needs him.

    So I shut reason out, banish morals,
    desire deceives my mind,
    and we continue to grope in the dark.
