    Do You Love Me Now?

    I'm tired and I'm bored,
    Yet, I push onward,
You said that I had to.
    Do you love me now?

    I didn't make the grade,
    I didn't take first place,
How close to perfect do I need to get?
    Do you love me now?

I fell flat on my face,
    I sank to my knees,
I did not lie down and die.
    Do you love me now?

    When will you see me?
    There's always someone better.
    You can't beat everyone.
    Will you love me now?

    My answers were all wrong,
My look was out of style,
Too far behind to ever catch up.
    Can you love me now?

I like my eccentricities and flaws,
I didn't like your rules so I made my own.
I may stand outside the crowd,
    But I love me now.

Sweet write! I love how you brought us the defiance to unwanted change of molding to another's expectations! Well done!!

    Applause Poet.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
