Poem Commentary

Seven years ago was the last time i wrote a poem. I had lost myself, and now I am trying to figure out who I am.

Don't Give Up

I gave up on her because she lost her soul
That beautiful thing that made her different,
The deepest, darkest, place that she hid from the world was gone
And i can't help but think that the fault was mine

She turned her back on the one thing that she loved
Nothing that was said could make her return
Think again, about why she was here
Why she kept hiding the person that she had become

Melodies unsung, lying dead on her tongue
Tragedy had killed her spirit
No one could convince her that her time was not done

This was everything that she had, It made her happy to be
In a lonely and unforgiving world
THIS had set her free

But she lost it.
For many years she wandered alone and unsure
She lost her voice,
I lost my voice,
But, my voice isn't lost anymore.
