The End

Falling slowly to the ground i realize
Blood dripping from my chest, pain so sharp, i am forced to close my eyes
Thoughts of the times we have shared, and all the wonderful things you have made me feel
Wondering how could i have been so stupid, how could i have believed

Visions of you, suddenly my enemy, flashes before my face
I can hardly fathom how we got to this place
Seems like only yesterday we discovered each other
We made endless vows, we did all we could to stay together

How could we have known that this was how it would end?
This beacon of our ruptured love no one would ever comprehend
My shattered heart causes my hands to shake
I took one more look at that amazing face, one look into your wonderful eyes. You made me have faith

Now you are telling me that you have met another
That there is no need for us to continue loving each other
Everything we had, has slowly faded away
You are now declaring that she brings endless joy into your heart, its like she brings you a new day

With every word, you smilingly utter
The last trace of life your words devour
One more dagger you thrust joyfully at me
Your words fade
The beat stops
My eyes are tightly shut
No, i cant believe
This is the end of you and ME.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
