Dreams

Every night, I lie in bed, and wait to sleep.
And every night, sleep isn't the only thing to overcome me.
As I'm pulled down into the darkest hour,
I lay there. Unmoving.
But then I awaken in a room, dimly lit by hidden light.
I find my friends, and my little girl.
Walking over, I spot something.
Quick-moving and unseen..
I glance over, but ignore it. Continuing to walk.
Then it happens. I'm hit.
Sharp pain roles down from my neck to my lower back.
As I try to awake in my own bed, I'm pulled back under,
And drowned in darkness. Another sharp pain.
I try to surface. To make it out okay.
But I can't.
I get pulled down again and again.
Finally, after a big struggle, I surface.
Awakened in my room, soft drops of water rolling down my face.
I dry my tears, knowing it's just a dream, and lie back down.
Waiting to be pulled back under, covered in darkness..

It's a pretty poem hun. I likes it, although it's rather depressing for your typical poem style.

I know it seems depressing.. I agree. It actually was something I wrote based on events that were happening to me at the time,

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
