    Druids

    Celtic Groves, the sacred islands
we became one with the forest
    the Deer Men, wearing antlers
    robed in magic, mysticism
    the ancient sages, lore keepers
we conjured wisdom from the earth
    taught the stones to speak
    chanting under the Henge
    mossy secrets, nature
the moon taught us to sing
we ran with the centaur, dryads
sweet wine, warm in the mind
    seeking the knowledge of ages
the spirit of the wilderness, ceremony
    the elements, our domain
to dance in the spring rain
    the forgotten people, my blood
    we walked together alone
    funeral pyres, songs of release
    return to the earth, brother
    be at peace

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
