Poem Commentary

This poem is written in honor of the lost children of Zimbabwe, who endure absolute poverty, lack of education, many homeless, orphaned, hungry. many have lost their families to aids, often infected with the disease, with no means of medication.. and yet, they continue to live in hope, holding onto faith.. May God Bless them

DUST

Dedicated to the Lost Children of Zimbabwe

Twelve years old
Will I eat today
See tomorrow
Depends on Gold

Dust

Panned in hunger
Grandmother is old
Will she eat today
Depends on me

Dust

Panned in vain
Will I go to school
Find two Dollar fee
Depends on Gold

Dust

Eluding me
Panning for life
Panning for Hope
Panning for

Dust

Still my favourite. It is a shame that the things that often touch us most are founded upon the tragedy of others.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
