    Everlasting

I look at your pictures now
A tear falls from my eye
    You left before your time
    I'll never hold you again
All I have are memories we made
They tell me I need to let go and move on
But your all I want, all I've ever wanted
I'm not prepared to say goodbye just yet
Maybe if I close my eyes it will all go away
The pain and emptiness may fade
Time might go in reverse and you'll be back again
I open my eyes, a soft prayer escapes my lips, and still I see
That month old paper, your obituary staring straight at me
Its not a dream, or even a cruel joke, but my sad reality
You have truly died and left me
I feel as though your still here, your love and warmth won't ever leave
We've got a bond so pure and innocent, like young lovers do
This bond won't ever be broken in my lifetime, I promise you
This love is the kind most hope to find in fifty years
I found mine in only seventeen
A love so pure and perfect, lasted forever, but ended abruptly to prematurally by your death
For you and I, is now eternal
    Our love is Everlasting
And I'll wait until the end of forever
Just to be able to hold you again

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
