Façade

Façade

Although the glass is broken
the clock is still ticking
Although it's just a tiny crack
the clock's appearance is altered
Although it's not visible from a distance
the owner is aware of it

Time passes through space and distance
but the broken glass would never heal
The glass could be replaced
but it would never be the same
Something would be added
and something taken away
--and the clock is still ticking

If a clock's glass is broken
how can you conceal it
Even if the owner doesn't mind
the world outside
throw things away . . .
that is broken

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
