Forbidden Love

Forbidden Love

There were flames all around us
 but yet we stood crying
with joy for we had at last found love
love that was forbidden yet we stood there
hand in hand
laughing then fell to our knees
our eyes met all you could hear
was the crackling of the fire
when i realized my love was dead
for many years he had been dead
yet there he stood
his hand reached out for me
once i touched his hand i knew it would be over
but yet i took it
the fire melted away and only i and my love
stood there in the ashes
"you must move on" he told me
tears ran down his cheeks
as he told me he loved me
for what felt like a thousand years
was but four minutes
for my love flew away like a rose's petals in the wind
my knees hit the ground once more
i screamed out my Love's name
he was nowere to be seen
but he was heard everywhere
in my mind
in my ears
in my heart
it was then i realized
that he was not truly dead
but with me
with us
in our hearts
and that my child
is why i am in this place
this place of white
this place without freedom
for a my brother was burned to be made pure
and i was locked up in white
so my child
do be careful
for this world is cruel
so my child
my child of forbidden love
no matter what they say
you are not the sin
This world
its creator
is but the real sin
so don't mind what they say
you will stay safe
forever in my arms
though death has come again

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
