    Poem Commentary

Since I was a child I heard so many superstitions primarily because of my mom...to think she was a christian devotee...hahaha and the most freaking superstitious was the Friday the 13th stigma. It’s a curse they say. But for me, I got some good luck in it…hehehe…old people try to pass that gen to gen…sheesh…they were nothing but pain in the neck…though its good to be wary but being too obsessed in that idea was a total mess…

    Friday the 13th

    Friday the 13th

I look the day we meet

    For I know I’ll get a strength

The day I see you I will get.

    Shhh…shhh…they say

Bad luck might come your way

But for me…no need to worry

For luck was sure to come aye!

Fool, you are! Never heed our warning!

Old folks say as if cursing.

    But again, I shrug

    Sigh…it’s a burden to hug.

They look at me in despise

For I never took their advice

I may be wrong and be scold

    But superstition I won’t hold!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
