Friendships

Friends are always there for you

Where were you when I needed you

I though you would always be there for me

I never thought you wouldn’t be there

I looked and looked for you

But I never found you

I thought you were my friend

I thought friends would forgive and forget

I thought I could get rid of the pain and regret

I thought friendships needed trust

Friendships needed honesty

Everything I thought was wrong

Our friendship never had any of that

We fought told everybody each others secrets

Caused each other pain

Never forgiving

I’ll never know what it’s like t

To be friends with you

I’ll always remember the pain you caused me

Pain, sorrow, and quilt

Are not what friendships

Should be based on

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
