    Get by

I’ve learned to get by on a fake smile
    But all the while
My heart is aching in my chest
Never been able to get  any rest
But I’ll learn  to get by

I hid the pain with  a look of bravery
But in the inside I’m broken down as if I’m in slavery
It has to be something better out there
    It doesn’t matter anywhere
    I’m tired
    And too sick to pretend
I guess I ‘ll  be in pain until the end
But  until I learn to fly
I guess I got to learn to get by

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
