    God's Glass

    God’s Glass

    There will always be souls,

    Into the light they’ll come,

    Some fulfilled, some with holes,

One on each end of the spectrum,

Smart and funny, evil and mean,

Good and kind, some out of their mind,

    But most just in between,

A taste of this world for God to find.

One day we’ll cross over there,

     Open our hearts and compare.

    Then when we’ve all shared,

How we loved and how we tried,

How we laughed, how we cried,

How we lived and how we died,

    The final toast will ring,

    To his lips he’ll bring,

A full glass of life to drink in,

     Quenching our thirst for him,

    We’ll savour our truest friend.

When he sets the glass down,

     New gardens he’ll sow,

    Seeds in fertile ground,

     Souls hungry to grow,

In a world of fresh sod,

    Raining love he’ll bestow

‘Neath the bend of a new rainbow,

For he is a thirsty God.
