    Grandpa's Model T

    (This song is dedicated to Louis and Emma Adams of Spencer, NE and to my lovely wife Ellen 8-11-04)

    Key of D Played to the same tune as the Walbash Cannon Ball

    (6 Bar Intro)

    Well, grandpa took his bride to Rushmore in 1923;
    down those dusty roads they drove...in Grandpa's Model T.
    A loving bride for ever - that's what she pledged to be
    as they traveled down those dusty roads in Grandpa's Model T.

    That first night out Grandpa parked that T beside an old mill stream.
    Then he sang songs of love to the girl of his dreams.

    She gave all her love to him that night and filled his heart with glee
    as they traveled down those dusty roads in Grandpa's Model T.

    (8 bar instrumental break)

    When they returned they settled down to raise a family;
    just Grandpa and his brand new bride and of course
    that old model T.

    Then one day out in the orchard Grandpa parked his Model T -
    It's resting place forever that's what it seemed to be.

    Yes way out in the orchard, underneath an apple tree...
    alone but not forgotten sat Grandpa's Model T.

    But his grandson has that T to this day and he does
    relish it with glee..
    Waiting to take his bride to Rushmore like Grandpa did
    in 1923.

    (6 bar Break)

    Just to take the same route that grandpa took
    and relive history
    as they travel down those dusty roads
    in Grandpa's Model T.
    Yes way out in the orchard underneath an apple tree;
    alone but not forgotten sat Grandpa's model T.

    This is so sweet!

    A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
