    Poem Commentary

Don't ask. I wrote this for my 15 year old sister so it is a big deviation from what I am used to writing.

    Hannah's Song

    Once upon an agelong past
The heart she gave away too fast
Was returned to the water from whence it came
And there it lies in silent shame

    On the tides and swells
    That carry love along
    and echoed in the seashells
may you hear her tearful song

    She sings about love lost
That she wasn't strong enough to keep
    Lamenting the dreadful cost
    From beneath the ocean deep

    And any dareful lover
    Who ventures too far out
    Is certain to discover
Just what her sorrow is about

So be careful with your heart dear
gaurd it tight until you are strong
But hold on to sense, not fear
    And remember Hannah's song

ive always loved that when a true artist writes out of their own personal discovery versus skill they expel their soul n a way that a reader will feel what the author feels. Love lost is all too relatable and you have mastered capturing what that torment feels like n words. "and any dareful lover who ventures too far out is certain to discover just what her sorrow is all about" simply masterful

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
