    Poem Commentary

A new relationship was just beginning. Fallling in love? Maybe. But I wasn't keeping track.

    HIGHER MATH

    17 times.
    I remember each touch
of your hand on my arm.
    No big deal. Not much.

    11 x 3.
    You gave me a hug.
    Yeah, they felt really good
    but I remained smug.

    A kiss. Maybe twice.
Or was it 4? Or 10?
    I'll have to start adding
    all over again.

    I'm not good at math
    so my count's not exact.
    But don't get the idea
    that I'm keeping track.

This was humorously clever, a very interesting write. Not to subtract from any addition, I am divided on the subject of these calculated emotions. ;-) Whiskers

    Thank you for your comment.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
