Hollow Hearts

Hollow Hearts

Hollow hearts,
living around hollow hearts,
sinking and feeling out of sorts,
I'm living among hollow hearts.

Sallow souls,
vacant, void, and vacuous souls,
ignoring the puzzle that life unfolds,
I'm living among sallow souls.

Envy for your hollow hearts,
twists, tears, and cracks me apart.
I cannot convey or duly impart
only fail to touch your hollow heart.

Wow, that is so strange, because I've often felt the same. No one seems to care about the universe and the mysteries it offers anymore. I love this one!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
