I am the African child

I am the African child

I am the african child
all the world waits my coming
all the earth watches
with interest to see what i shall become
civilization hands in the balance
for what i am the world of tomorrow will be
i am the african child
you have brought me in to this world about which i know nothing
you hold in your hands my destiny
you determine whether i shall succeed or fall
give me i beg you, a world where i can walk tall and proud train me as it is your duty on to me
to love my self,my people
and to build an african nation.

This is one of the most heartfelt poems, I have read in a very long time. So full of passion, trust, hope for the future. I hope it reaches many readers. Thank you for both reading and posting

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
