I bid you farewell

I bid you farewell

I bid you farewell

Good bye my lover,

Good bye my friend.

I sweat and trembled,

My heart palpitated

At the thought of you

And romance that could never be.

It brought me joy

And sometimes misery

But today I set you free.

Good bye my lover,

Good bye my friend.

Some days were encouraging,

Some days were disappointing.

A constant dilemma – it was!

If only I knew how you felt.

I could have given you my all

And gladly accepted everything you are.

Had I the power,

I could have broken the silence –

This invisible wall between us.

Some days were encouraging,

Some days were disappointing.

Yesterday I felt it,

I know you felt it too

Dumbstruck love – I call it,

Hindered by pride or fear,

Eating you up inside

And wearing you out.

If only circumstances could allow.

Cupid did his part,

It was up to us

So I guess we failed.

Yesterday I felt it,

I know you felt it too.

Fly away my heart,

I guess you belong somewhere else.

I loved you,

Love you

And will always love you.

Could have had you

And could die before

I hurt you.

Take my love and

Fly away my heart,

I guess you belong somewhere else.

So I bid you farewell,

“I bid you farewell.”

See you tomorrow

Hopefully with reform.

I will always love your voice,

Smile, lips and all.

Hard as it is to let go,

I know for sure

You will always be a “prospective” to me.

So I bid you farewell,

“I bid you farewell.”

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
