    I Count the times

i count the times the comforter has been there
i count the times the comforter has blessed me
i count the times the comforter kept me from harm
any tongue speaking against me will be cancelled out
for this is her heritage she belongs to me
i count the times my friend has covered me in my going out
in me as i walk in this life the comforter orders my steps
i count the times when calamity tries to take over
i count the times enduring pain, love out weighing the strain
i count the times when i think on the things that matter
i count the times oft in my quietness
i count the times seeing what could be
i count the times asking why me
the answer i hear is so loud and clear
think of how it would be if the times you could count
were not there for you to see

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
