    I WATCHED

    I watched your breath
    as they gently strolled
    and cascaded down the street
    of the silent sheet
    A whisper played around
    your mouth.
they tumbled out into the shadows
    of dreams.
A word bubbled out, ran up the roof
like the lyrics of midnight moon
ghostly and gently fell like the misty
    morning dew.
    I watched, watched
    while you slip into
    the embrace of bottomless peace.
