    If He Could

If he could just sit and watch a movie with me,
    Would he?

If he could spend an afternoon walking hand in hand with me,
    Would he?

If he could take time to make time for me,
    Would he?

If he could have dinner with me,
    Would he?

If he could bring me a flower just to see me smile,
    Would he?

If he could stay the night with me cuddling,
    Would he?

If he could spend a whole day making love to me,
    Would he?

    If he could...
    ...Would he?

They are but they are not acted upon.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
