    I'll Get Over Loving You

I came calling at your house this morning
Went knock knock at your door
They told me that you moved away
You wouldn’t be back any more
I remember when we laid breathless
Why did you have to tell me lies?
You made the flowers laugh and sing
Now look, you made them cry
You made your promises on the wind
Then you let them all blow free
Well I sure hope you’re satisfied
If that’s the way it has to be
I know I will get over loving you
I have done it once or twice before
But I will never get over the way I was feeling
Going knock knock at your door

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
