    This Country's Falling Down

I live in a country that’s being run by fools
Trying to get rich using political tools
They talk about conventions, their so excited
But please don’t attend, unless you have been invited
Talk about the food, a thousand dollars a plate
And the Bush family was ten minutes late
It’s funny how money can make a man so great
Well I’d say this countries falling down, yes she’s falling down
And I don’t think that I’m going to stick around
Yes, this is the old USA, she’s so confusing
She doesn’t even know what drugs she’s abusing
Well you can’t buy marijuana at four dollars a pack
But you smoke cigarettes that are causing heart attacks
And don’t let them catch you dropping lsd
Every body knows that liquor is the key
    Alcohol Anonomous wins another victory
Well I’d say this countries falling down, yes she’s falling down
And I don’t think that I’m going to stick around
Well ten years too late, they dug up JFK
Seems the warren report, left out the CIA
Somebody’s probing in your private life
They probably get their kicks, watching you and your wife
And it’s all being done for protection of this country
I don’t believe a word; it smells a little bit too funky
Their hiding something else behind that elephant and donkey
Well I’d say this countries falling down, yes she’s falling down
And I don’t think that I’m going to stick around
The price of meat is so amazing
It’s got to be on gold that those cows are grazing
And don’t forget the money you pay for one tank of gas
And they raised the price again for picking up your trash
Please don’t get sick cause the doctors are on strike
Seems that the money that you’re paying, isn’t the kind they like
So try and stay healthy, jog or ride a bike
Well I’d say this countries falling down, yes she’s falling down
And I don’t think that I’m going to stick around
Yes, this old country, she’s losing control
And if you don’t believe me, I’ll gladly take a poll
I hear about the problems they have with communism
But I think the trouble here is lack of patriotism
My head keeps spinning from all this tribulation
And all the hurts and pains of this dieing nation
I think I’ll find a place to do some quiet meditation

I love the rhyming in this poem. It seems to be well thought out. I found it easy to follow. Congratulations on an excellent poem.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
