Poem Commentary

This is a Sonnet, to be read with a certain flow.

In The Olive Garden

                              “In the Olive Garden”

In the olive garden; up upon the roof,

Awaits my love; so tenderly he cares.

Is our love full of deceit or truth?

As I see him look at me, love is in the air.

Wrapped in shimmering gold, my heart unfolds,

As I look into his blue eyes I see,

Burning desire and wanting untold,

Of his lusty thirst, and his misery.

Olives are ripe, heavy scent in the air,

Warm summer night, full moon in the sky,

No one to see us or even to care,

Just my love and I, a deep lovers cry.

Waves crashing, on the cliffs from the ocean,

My lover and I, melt in emotion.

I wrote this after a wonderful vacation in Sorrento Italy where my lover and I stayed in an olive garden. Memories like this are what makes it all worth while. :)

Poetry is what is lost in translation.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
