Poem Commentary

A sonnet about Jason Voorhees, from Friday the 13th. It mimics the style of "Sonnet 130" by William Shakespeare.

Jason

His jade eyes cut into my soul
His intimidation crushes me
Rings of Saturn are made of ice
Much like his nearly nonexistant heart
His face is mangled, hardly a face
His mask has yellowed with time
His natural scent is that of a decaying corpse
He never speaks a word, for his voicebox ran screaming
His clothes disgust me, they reek of mold
His name alone strikes fear into the strongest heart
He has people skills comparable to a wet mop
No matter how fast you run, he walks faster
Yet, I love this monster man
This mama's boy, Jason Voorhees

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
