    Last Breath

I walked into the house yelling "mom I'm home!"
That's when i heard a ring coming from the phone',
A dear close friend told me something i dreaded to know
My mom was in the hospital and i needed to go!
I was eighteen years old and scared to death
Forty minutes later my mother took her last breath,
In the middle of the waiting room is where i stood
Knowing i had to tell my brother and hoping i could,
My world had been shattered but i had to be strong
My younger brother arrived and asked "what's wrong?"
I grabbed both of his hands and looked into his eyes
I took a deep breath as i was trying not to cry,
I said "the Dr. just told me mom passed away!"
He ran away from me with nothing to say,
When i found him we just cried as we held each other
Know that we would never again see our loving mother,
That day when i lost my mom i knew she was gone forever
Now i know when i get home we will live for an eternity together!

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
