Let's Not Forget

Let's Not Forget

Let's not forget the elderly
who have lived through out the years
the ones who have seen somewhere in life
desires, hopes, and fears
those who have fought our world wars
and by the grace of God still live
the people put upon a shelf,
yet still have love to give

Let's not forget the elderly
who have a tale to tell
about the great ones of their time
and of others that have failed
who have obtained a priceless knowledge
of triumph and then pain
the people put in nursing homes
assumed crazy or insane

Let's not forget the elderly
who have a tender gift
to spot a person feeling down
and with kindness they uplift
Let's remember those forgotten,
they're special people too
those who give love freely,0
to accept is up to you

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
