Love?

Poem Commentary

Love is a pretty complex, scary, volatile, and amazing thing all at once. Please let me know what you think.

Love?

Oh how I love you so.
I know I love you, because my life turned into a cliche
In all of a short week.
So many wise ones look down their nose
And say I can't possibly know what love is
But do we not love our parents?
Do we not love God?
Do we not love ourselves?
Do we not love simple things?
I'm not supposed to love
But I've never done
What I was supposed to
So why wouldn't I love you?
I don't throw that word around

I can't
Because love is the foundation for every emotion
And I've seen love go terribly wrong
So why would I play with it?

It may not be love,

But I'll be damned
If it's not the closest I've ever gotten.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
