Poem Commentary

this is a poem for the one who broke my heart in such devastation that it's going to be hard to repair.

Loves Enduring Pain

These tears of sorrow burn into my cheeks,
Never able to hide this horrendous pain.
They stain my cheeks,
Scarred on my face,
Showing the pain I endure.
Love is agony when its lost,
Never to be gained back.
I did him wrong too many times
Never able to change my mistakes.
I feel like I'm dying without his love,
This I must make it through.
He is my weakness;
Keeper of my heart forever.
He will have my never ending love;
Beyond eternity.
I must not shed these tears,
Uncontrollably they fall,
I wish I could make them stop.
Will I ever stop shedding these tears?
My heart is in pain,
Breaking more and more by the second.
I've lost my love,
Never to regain again.
I'll never love again without my heart;
It is his forever.
What he does with it nobody knows;
That's for him to choose.
One day we may meet again,
Until then tears will fall in my sleep.
When awake I will shield the tears,
Nobody will see the pain I endure.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
