    Lying to myself

Hidden in the depths of my own denial.
As righteous as I make it out to be, I fail.
Nothing can be real, I wont let it be.
I feel all that I allow myself to feel and nothing more,
    Which honestly isn't much.
Suffer through all that I pretend is ok.
For every nail hammered in, I lose more and more of the strength that I once held so high.
Deception is my only option, but I only decieve myself.
Glory to christ for catching onto the evil ways that I never knew I had,
    damnation the cure? Perhaps.
You take the decision into your own command,
Punishing me for trying to be by you side,
though each and every knife that took a slice continued until I became a shadow of myself,
    someone only you could recognize.
    Lost to myself,
    lost to my friends,
what is this creature I have manifested into?

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
