    middle age dreamer

middle age dreamer, holding on to yesterday
seems if it doesn't kill us, it makes us live another day
it's like telling someone a story, that gets better along the way
soon you think that half your life has passed before your eyes
half the man is what you see and just then you realize
that life is good most the time because you try your best
even if your thirty, (sixty not to far)
I had lots of friends when I was sixteen
and a couple more when I turned eighteen
with a full time job they soon would disappear
replaced with five children to rear
even if your forty, (eighty is not the end)
pretty soon all your freinds are family
    but thats ok with me
because they love me for who I am, unconditionally.
when I am a grandpa and middle age has passed me by
    I hope that I'm still a dreamer,
when I look in my grandchild's eyes
