Moving On

You taught me how to kiss;

You taught me how to lie.

You loved me and you left me,

And you taught me to say goodbye.

I know exactly what I want,

But I still think of what I know.

I lost a piece of me in the progress,

But I finally let you go.

All that you have taken,

And all I won't give up,

All of it is broken now.

Have I bled enough?

My heart I offered it to you,

But you only turned away.

In the end there was an ending,

Yet here I am today.

Today I am much better,

Than I ever was before.

I learned from my mistakes,

And I've found I love him more.

I found truth beneath your lies,

So carefully disguised.

I made it through the pain,

But saw it reflected in your eyes.

Somehow I managed to hurt you,

Though that never was my goal.

I tried my best to fix what you broke,

And now that's taken its toll.

It all worked out for the best,

Because we were never meant to be,

But still I know I care for you,

Even if you never cared for me.

So have a good rest of your life,

I hope your dreams come true.

I just wanted you to know,

That I am done missing you.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
