The Only Way
I look at you and I wonder,
If I could ever be..
The person you imagine,
The success you've planned for me.
Because your life was difficult,
You made for me an easy one.
Because you're life was filled with heartache,
You guaranteed that I'd have none.
Because you made bad choices,
You ensured all mine were made.
Because you knew I'm safe at home,
You've made sure that's where I've stayed.
But now the time is coming,
When my childhood will end.
I'm not sure if I'm ready to be on my own,
I don't know what life I want to live.
You've taken me this far,
You've taught me what to say.
But now it's time for me to say goodbye,
And hope you've shown me the way...
