My Lonely Cell

My Lonely Cell

All it took was a moment
A tiny droplet in the infinite river of time
Darkness enshrouded my dreams
Complete, total and utter lightlessness
No speck of light in sight
Nothing to pierce the veil covering my eyes
The source of the tears on my cheeks was shut as i heard the whoosh of the scythe
That is when it penetrated my sombre cell
Light
In all its mightiness
First a ray, thin and soft as silk, shone on my head which by now lay down on the floor
Then a larger source, bright as the sun enveloped my body
Though it already laid down breathless
But I had to realize
It was all a dream
It had to be
For there is no light in the afterlife
There are only memories of broken hearts, childish dreams
and the bitter sting of a lonely life.

"There are only memories of broken hearts, childish dreams and the bitter sting of a lonely life." An arrangemrnt of phrases, full of truth! The content of this poem is very powerful. It inflicts reflection upon the reader. Great Job! Keep on writing young man! God bless you!

thanks for the words of encouragement.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
