Poem Commentary

This poem I wrote to a friend ,It always made my wonder how a woman could take two hours everyday to get herself ready for the day. That commitment Why! Until I better understood her and realized she had some self confidence issues, and she also had some self worth issue's. So everyday she would paint her face to her liking, and hide the true feelings inside. the true issues were in her.

My Paintbrush

My Paintbrush is my best friend
It detects when people are untrue
When I need to cover my feelings
It hides them from showing through

Self seeking people only care for themselves
They will hurt you if they can
They try to hurt you for no reason
And say you are the problem at hand

So I take my Paintbrush with me
Where ever I may go
In case I need to cover up
So my feelings will not show

Its not that I am fake
Or that I feel I need to hide
But I really need to trust you
Before you see me deep inside

I would like to let go of my fears
And leave them far behind
But my Paintbrush is my friend
And good friends are hard to find!!!!

I think you will truly love me!
So I will be, truly honest with you?
My Paintbrush will stay with me
UNTIL I LEARN.... TO LOVE ME TO....

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
