Not Becoming

Doff sapphire eiderdown

Spurn from cockcrow

Peer amid stained glass emit balmy

Contemplating

In no desire consciously arise

loll one's self

Ah, last

Dawn's servants chimed in to arise

If one must , then one must

Grunt, rubbed one's eyes

Eve of slumber before

Restless one must confess

Turmoil innermost chambers

Corridors resonated

Beckoning night's minions

Opine thine secrets

Finger tips rasp window panes

Shuffle amid courtyards

Erstwhile once was something to behold

Nowadays untamed

Tarnished statues gaze outwards

Expressionless face

One would ponder what would they speak of?

Times that have come and gone

When it was glorious children frolic

Without a care tumble down; smile

All the while innocent

Overcast draws near

Laughter no long to hear

Windows shatter

Cold stone single step through corridor

Peer underneath drapes

Veiled figure sits upon bed

Clothes tattered

Hopes and desires long gone from childhood

Misunderstood

Masquerade to play

Tapestries hung above the hearth

Simple comforts are all to be needed

Upon laid letter entailed

Fetch forth thy truth

Speak of will be

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
